Pianist Horace Silver was one of the true jazz greats, and composed a huge number of memorable tunes across a performing career which started in the early 1950s and was to last for over fifty years. A pioneer of the hard-bop style and co-founder of the Jazz Messengers, his style developed to include blues, gospel and funk influences. Trumpeter Andy Hague has been leading this tribute to Silver for more than a decade, but the band’s repertoire continues to expand and develop, with a wealth of material to choose from by the prolific and brilliant composer.
Siverado features six of Bristol's best known jazz musicians with a front line of Ben Waghorn, Kevin Figes and Andy Hague and the powerhouse rhythm section of Jim Blomfield, Riaan Vosloo and Mark Whitlam. This is definitely a gig not to be missed.
