Renowned British saxophonist, flautist, composer Theo Travis takes time off touring the world with Soft Machine to reconvene his brilliant band Double Talk. A quartet of exceptionally talented musicians with a collective CV that takes in Robert Fripp, David Gilmour, David Sylvian, Steven Wilson, Porcupine Tree, John Etheridge, Gong, Keith Tippett, Loose Tubes, Working Week, Annie Lennox, Charlie Haden, Alan Holdsworth, Andy Sheppard, Nigel Kennedy, Terry Callier, The Wonder Stuff, Nigel Price, Art Themen, Martin Speake and many more.
"As a saxophonist, Travis can bridge swing-sax romanticism, Ronnie Laws funkiness, or a little of Andy Sheppard's quirky, asymmetrical phrasing. As a flautist who sparingly deploys hypnotic electronic assistance, he can be as poetically minimalist as any ECM Records star. But he can be a headlong groover too, and there's plenty of that on the Double Talk project, with Pete Whittaker's fierce organ-blasting, driving guitar soloing from the gifted Mike Outram, and no-prisoners drumming from the excellent Nic France" - Jazz UK
Operating at the fluid interface between jazz, ambient and prog Double Talk are a superb live band. The last time they played in Bristol was at Fringe Jazz way back in 2015 which was a sell out and one of our best gigs that year. So be sure not to miss this one.
