For our last promotion and Christmas Special Tony Orrell and Riaan Vosloo have organised a very special 'XL' version of the band BIG TOP featuring thirteen of the Bristol scene's very best musicians, all bandleaders in their own right :

Big Top have been a favourite at Fringe Jazz since they made their debut back in 2017 so who better to play our very last gig. After 13 years we are hanging up our promoters' boots and calling it a day and celebrating those 13 years with a unique 13 musician strong band. Thank you to everyone who's ever attended or played at one of our gigs, and please come to help us say goodbye. And if you've never been to one, just come to find out what all the fuss is about - you won't be disappointed.

A Big Top gig is an extraordinary journey through the music of William Parker, Chris McGregor, Johnny Dyani, Keith Tippett, Duke Ellington, Ornette Coleman and others, including brilliant original compositions by the band members. Rightly described as a 'powerhouse' of a band, tonight's 13 strong augmented line up should perhaps be described as the 'thermonuclear line up' or 'Big Top on Steroids'. This is going to be an exciting night of music. Don't miss it.
